Family Business Award from the European university Business School

On 24 June 2015, Xavier Dietlin received the “Family Business Award” from the EU Business School at the Hotel Président Wilson in Geneva.

The Family Business Award recognizes top-performing family businesses that successfully combine tradition and innovation, as well as make a contribution to the community. These businesses make substantial contributions to the global economy and become an inspiration for other family businesses.

Xavier Dietlin started his career as a player of the Servette Football Club but at the age of 22 had to exit from his childhood dream due to an injury. He then joined the family business Dietlin Artisans Métalliers. Established in 1854 in the Swiss city of Porrentruy, the Dietlin metalworking company has been passed down from father to son. In 1969, Xavier’s father took the business to work on sites in Geneva and then Lausanne, with artistic ironwork gradually being overtaken by metal constructions, doors, windows, etc. Xavier Dietlin had qualified as an industrial designer and soon after joining the family company, he suggested a change in their activities. He raised the idea of branching into new areas, including the watchmaking industry.

Il rejoignit alors l’entreprise familiale Dietlin Artisans Métalliers, qui se transmet de père en fils depuis sa création en 1854 dans la ville suisse de Porrentruy. En 1969, le père de Xavier emmena l’entreprise travailler sur des sites à Genève puis Lausanne, l’activité évoluant peu à peu de la métallerie d’art vers la métallerie du bâtiment, avec la fabrication de portes, de fenêtres, etc. Diplômé en esthétique industrielle, Xavier Dietlin suggéra un changement d’orientation peu après avoir rejoint l’entreprise familiale. Il proposa de se diversifier dans de nouveaux secteurs, y compris l’industrie horlogère. Quelques exemples du travail de Xavier Dietlin: un bunker transparent pour le mécanisme d’Anticythère au musée d’Athènes, une vitrine pour la montre Marie-Antoinette qui inspira Breguet, la vitrine Raptor pour les montres Hublot, utilisée dans plus de 200 points de vente du monde entier, un système holographique pour la présentation révolutionnaire de montres inestimables.
